CEDRO's functions include the defence of its members' interests in Spain and abroad. This defence takes the form of court action and proceedings before other institutions.

In accordance with its Articles of Association and pursuant to the Spanish Intellectual Property Act (s.150), CEDRO is entitled to act in all kinds of court and administrative proceedings to defend the rights under its management. Such action is taken for and on behalf of CEDRO members.

CEDRO also defends its members' interests before other national and international institutions, including:
