In 2001 we started to equip ourselves with the necessary tools so that we could expand to the digital world the collective management which we already perform in the analogical area. This process culminated on June 16th 2004 when the Members’ Assembly approved a new model of membership contract, as well as new annexes to the contract for authors and publishers who were already members of the Entity.
This has allowed the right holders to entrust us as well with the collective management of their rights in the digital world.
The collective management of author’s rights in the digital world mainly involves:
- The grant of non exclusive authorizations which allow different digital uses of, in general, fragments of the works which make up our repertoire. These authorizations are granted in the form of licenses in exchange of an economic compensation which we collect on behalf of our members in order to distribute it back to them. (+)
- The intellectual property rights protection through the exercise of any action directed to prosecute the illicit digital uses of the works of our members.
Those who were members of CEDRO before 2004 and want to expand the mandate awarded to our Entity to the digital world, have to send the documentation indicated below by post, duly completed and signed, to the Members’ Department or, if their residence is in Catalonia, to our delegation in that community.
